NOTES ON CHEESE
Despite Cheshire Street being one of the road signs that inspired the project, I felt that it didn't actually fulfil my criteria for inclusion as it would need the appellation 'Cheese' to be properly understood as a food stuff. The same issue arose with most other street names which are also cheeses, the exception being Wensleydale which is famous enough in its own right to be asked for without specifying it's a cheese.
Until 2004 there was a Stilton Crescent in Harlesden, but this has since been built over, and there is allegedly an Edam Court in Sidcup, but I couldn't find any trace of it on two visits.
Leicester Square is unfortunately not red while Gloucester Road is not Double. Beaufort, Colby, Derby, Dunlop, Monteray and Windsor are all regretfully too obscure as definitive cheeses.
Which makes it all the more fun that there are actually four different streets named after Wensleydale.
